How to set weight loss goals that stick Part 1

So the new year is coming at ya like a freight train…right along with the resolutions, commitments to get fit, and the dreaded “I’m gonna give up”….. <insert vice here>. By now you’re probably wondering, “How the heck am I gonna make these weight loss goals stick this time?” Well, there’s good news and there’s bad news. Which do you want first?

The Bad News?

Okay, here goes. Most of these commitments, resolutions, and give ups won’t last. Statistics show that by February your old habits will sink back in and you’ll find yourself right where you left off, eating takeout and avoiding the gym like the plague. You know, that place, what’s it called? Ah, yes, you’re comfort zone. I know, I know. Harsh. But it’s the unfortunate truth.

Ready for the Good News?

The reason why it’s so hard to stick to your weight loss goals isn’t because they are too far out of your reach or because you lack the drive and dedication to accomplish them. It’s because you’re missing something crucial to your weight loss equation. There are tools, that if implemented correctly, can drastically change your approach thereby changing your outcome every time. Using these tools can be the difference in achieving your goals or simply letting them fall flat.
In this 5 part series I’m going to teach you how to make your weight loss resolutions stick and how you can set yourself up for massive success anytime you want to tackle any goal.

It’s pretty simple actually. So simple in fact, you may think it’s too good to be true. I assure you it’s not. There’s a few things you can do right now that will take you from program starter to program finisher, from goal setter to goal crusher, and from dreaming about the body you want to grabbing the body you deserve.
Best part is… there is nothing you need that you don’t already have right now to start implementing these strategies. Nothing you have to buy and nothing you have to wait for. You have everything you need right now to dominate your weight loss goals.

All you have to do is decide to put in a little work on the front end to be able to reap the benefits on the back end.

Setting Weight loss Goals That Stick. It Starts With your Why.

Why do you want to get fit? Why do you want to lose weight? Why do you want to start a diet? Whatever it is that you want, you need to know why you want it. Here’s the deal though. It needs to be the real reason and you need to be completely honest with yourself.

Hint: Because I just want to look good or because I want to wear a bikini ain’t gonna cut it. Dig deeper. Why do you want to look good? Why do you want to wear a bikini? Think about what will motivate you when the struggle is real?!
A piece of fabric in your drawer? Probably not.The joy your kids will feel when you finally book that beach vacation you’ve been avoiding? Um..yes! How about the memories you’ll create for them when they see you happy and enjoying yourself again? Uh…double yes!!

You want to get super specific and attach emotion to your why. The more emotion we can attach to our why, the more real the outcomes feel and the harder it is to give up them.

Disclaimer:

As women we are conditioned to think we need some noble reason for wanting the things we want. This is your why. It can be whatever you want it to be. Just make sure that it will be a true motivator when things get tough.
Want an example?

One of my goals this year is to stay lean (within a certain body fat %) for the entire year!
My Why: To set an example for my clients, to practice what I preach, and to be a leader for you guys. ultimately giving me a platform to serve and help the women that need my help.
Sure I want to look good in my bikini but that is a side effect of truly serving my “Why” which just so happens to be you! ๐Ÿ™‚

Alright, Your Turn!

Try this:

1. Grab a piece of paper and write down a goal.
2. Below that write “Why” and jot your answer down.
3. Below that write “Why” again. Jot that answer down too.
4. Continue down the page until you can no longer answer the question “Why”?Try to answer quickly and write down whatever pops into your head. Don’t hold back and keep going until you are certain it’s all out.

**I want you to get at least (3) levels into your Why, (5) is even better!
